OHM Malas was started by Gauri Kund in June of 2022. While she was away in the mountains of Asheville, NC, it came to her through a healing that she wanted to learn how and start making malas. As soon as she got home, she received the lessons from a friend on how to make a mala, and that’s how these lovely creations came about!
What is a Mala?
A mala is a sacred necklace, also known as prayer beads, made up of 108 beads. The beads have healing properties that can bring health, happiness, and good fortune. Malas can be used in your Spiritual practice to count the repetition of a mantra. A mantra is a slogan or affirmation that is said repeatedly to aid in concentration and meditation. There are many ancient mantras that when are repeated daily, can bring about so many positive shifts in a persons life.
Gauri Kund carefully and divinely creates and designs each mala using her Intuition and connection to the Divine. She can make you a mala in one of two ways. She usually has some already made that wanted to be created through her that you could see if one speaks to you. She also can take custom orders, where she listens to her customers and where they are at on their Spiritual journey, and then uniquely creates a mala made from beads that represent different healing properties. She has made custom orders for memorial malas, such as if a pet has passed away.
Her malas are unique as most malas she creates will include a pendant at the end (instead of the traditional tassel), which is also a part of the creation process. While each mala is being made, sacred mantras are being chanted and infused into the beads as she hand knots them all. At the end, she infuses the mala with Sekhem reiki healing energy, gives it a water blessing that was handed down to her by one of her teachers, and can also infuse it with any intentions you may have.

OHM Malas
The name “OHM” malas stands for “Open Hearted Malas.” Gauri Kund follows the path of Bhakti yoga, and on one Sunday she was sitting in her teachers Satsang chanting, and the name “OHM Malas” came into her consciousness. One of the biggest gifts she received from her Spiritual teacher, BrahmanKyrie, is to live with an open heart. It is through an open heart that we can heal and experience life on a much more profound level and feel a deeper connection to others and the world around us.
Her mission with OHM Malas is to share this love and healing energy so others too can experience that deep connection and live and love with an open heart.
