Gauri Kund’s Blog
Recently I had the wonderful opportunity of spending time at Ram Dass’s home on Maui. I had the honor of being a “Sevak” which is a person who devotes themself to selfless service. My days were spent either watering the garden and plants, decorating the many spaces of the house with the multitude of tropical flowers and greenery that grow on the property, walking Ram Dass’s dog, Leela, making dinner for those staying at the house, amongst many other things. It also gave me the time to spend on my own personal sadhana (spiritual practice). It is the biggest blessing getting to spend time in a space where a great teacher had lived and passed away as their energy still lives on there.
My intent is that this reaches any women who have suffered their whole life and are finally putting the pieces together that they may in fact be autistic too!
My intention for sharing this deeply personal and vulnerable story is to raise awareness about autism and neurodivergence, a subject that is still widely misunderstood and stigmatized. And also for others to know that it presents itself very differently in each individual. This is my personal story of how it’s been in my life.
One of the gifts of being autistic is being very energetically in tune, intuitive, and seeing the bigger picture and things most people can’t see. So I’m now using my gifts in different ways. In bigger ways that can help shift the planet. And for that, I’m also eternally grateful for.
